This website is directed towards people who experience lymphedema and pain in their body. Lymphedema means swelling. Some people are born with this condition. Others develop lymphedema following a chemical exposure or serious physical trauma  such as a fall or car accident.  Frequently, the condition occurs as a consequence of cancer treatments such as  removal of lymph nodes and radiation therapy.

Lymphedema is an accumulation of lymphatic fluids in the interstitial tissue that results in swelling. The degree of swelling varies by individual. Some people  may experience severe swelling while others may experience a milder form of edema. In addition to swelling, a person with lymphedema commonly experiences symptoms such as a feeling of fullness or tightness in the swollen area and aching or pain in the affected part of the body.

My goal, as a therapist, is to inform you that there is a way to reduce the lymphedema and the associated pain by receiving a massage treatment called

Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD)

MLD is a special method of massage. The MLD technique is effective in treating a wide variety of conditions such as:

  • Venous insufficiency

  • Non-infected inflammatory conditions (e.g. sprains and strains)
